Happy Happy Harvest!

Bluebird Hill Vineyard

W e’re in the midst of the most exciting, most frantic time of the year, we are at HARVEST!! The Bluebird Hill Estate fruit is in, we picked our first Pinot gris grapes ever early last week, and a half-ton of Pinot noir at the end of last week. Fruit has been looking really good, with no evidence of any fungal pressure and thankfully, no visits from flocks of birds or other fruit stealers!! Fruit is coming in this week and next from our vineyard partners and everyone is remarking how great the grapes are looking, we are really exciting for a remarkable vintage!

We hosted about forty guests at ‘Pinot on the Patio’, held Sunday evening, September 4th. There was great food from Forks and Corks Catering, and retro music by Cardboard Caravan, and three rounds of trivia. Everyone (including Gus) had a great time!

We’re looking forward now to our upcoming events: Yoga at the Vineyard on September 24th, October 8th and 22nd; our first Women & Wine Wednesday on October 5th; and the Wine Club and Friends Party on October 16, which will follow an ‘Oktoberfest’ theme and will feature the music of Breakers Yard. By the way, if you are not yet a wine club member (26 and growing strong!), you can rectify that situation before then by signing up. Enjoy a discount on wine and all other purchases every time you visit us by joining the club! For details on all our upcoming events please visit our events page.

In other news, Sue gave a tour and interview to Neil Zawicki of the Oregon Wine Press on Sunday, September 11. Looks like Bluebird Hill Cellars is going to be featured in an article in their October issue! Look for us there. Also, we had a nice little article in the pre-Labor Day issue of ‘Tastings’, the food and wine supplement produced by the Eugene Register-Guard.

Looking down the road, we also hope you will come out and visit us on the Pre- and Post-Thanksgiving weekends. We’re planning to feature some barrel tastings, music, food, and other fun, so please put us on your to-visit list during those great Oregon winery Open House weekends.

In the meantime, we’d like to remind all that although our regular tasting room hours are Fri – Sun, we are also open by appointment and the patio is available by reservation for small private wine tasting for weekday lunches, and evening get-togethers (~5:00 – 7:00) seven days a week. During regular hours, remember that picnicking at Bluebird Hill is not only allowed, but encouraged, so put a picnic basket in your plans when you come out to visit us next time here in Alpine!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Best always from Neil and Sue.
